About the position

The Data Center Technician role at TEKsystems is an entry-level position focused on assisting in the construction and installation of cable infrastructure within a data center environment. Technicians will learn essential skills such as pulling cable, terminating fiber, and building server racks while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist higher-level technicians and team leads in building out cable infrastructure.
• Pull cable and fiber, learning color codes and termination processes.
• Install cable trays and pathways, and build server racks.
• Drop cable down walls using fish tape or other methods.
• Route cable through the data center and perform pre-termination procedures.
• Suspend and support cable using appropriate methods such as cable trays and J-hooks.
• Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required.
• Perform fire-stopping procedures and install sleeves for cable.
• Terminate low-voltage devices and follow blueprints accurately.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets and work orders.
• Adhere to company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards.

Requirements

• Any telecom experience, including installing cable trays and pulling cable/fiber.
• Experience working with hand tools.
• Construction experience, including following blueprints and building.
