About the position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring that the cloud remains operational. As a Data Center Technician, you will be part of a diverse team that includes software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Your role will involve collaborating with various teams across AWS to uphold the highest standards of safety and security while providing extensive capacity at minimal costs for our customers. You will be tasked with resolving and troubleshooting a variety of data center infrastructure issues, including hardware, fiber, networking, and related problems. This position is crucial for maintaining the operation and maintenance of IT infrastructure and hardware across AWS Cloud regions. In this role, you will become the primary resolver for your support team, gaining valuable troubleshooting skills on different hardware and software cases. You will be expected to diagnose hardware and network problems, perform physical repairs, and conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures. The position requires adherence to safety standards and the promotion of a strong safety culture within the team. You will also be required to work rotating shifts, including weekends, to ensure the 24/7 operation of the data center environment. Local travel may be necessary, and a valid EU driving license is required due to the remote locations of some data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing hardware and network problems followed by physical repairs
  • Troubleshooting events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Performing root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Manual handling and lifting of equipment as required
  • Maintaining the highest safety standards and promoting a strong safety culture
  • Working rotating shifts including mornings, late shifts, nights, and weekends to support a 24/7 data center environment
  • Engaging with other solution groups for complex problem resolution

Requirements

  • IT hardware troubleshooting related experience
  • Completed formal education/apprenticeship or training in an IT-related field
  • Very good command of English

Nice-to-haves

  • Diploma or equivalent formal qualification in IT-related field
  • Basic knowledge of Linux
  • Experience with network protocols and in Data Center operations
