About the position

The Data Center Technician role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is crucial for maintaining the infrastructure that supports the cloud services relied upon by customers globally. Technicians will engage in hands-on activities related to data center operations, including troubleshooting hardware and networking issues, while ensuring safety and security standards are met. This position requires a strong technical aptitude and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team to solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Engage in physical data center activities including planning and tracking capacity, rack deployment, and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
• Lift and move materials up to 49 pounds each.
• Work in cramped and/or elevated locations and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching.
• Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day, and safely ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways.
• Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
• Take ownership of technical issues and engage other teams to drive resolution.
• Improve effectiveness through process innovation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or A+, CND, Network+, or Security+ certification.
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

• Hands-on experience with hardware platforms such as Dell or HP.
• Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications.
• Previous experience in a Data Center environment, including racking & stacking gear and cable management.
• Associate's degree in an IT-related field plus two years of progressively responsible experience.
