About the position

The Data Center Technician role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is crucial for maintaining the infrastructure that supports the cloud services relied upon by customers globally. Technicians are responsible for troubleshooting and resolving a variety of data center infrastructure issues, including hardware, networking, and fiber problems. This position requires a strong technical aptitude and the ability to engage in physical activities within the data center environment, ensuring operational efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities

• Engage in physical data center activities including planning and tracking capacity, rack deployment, and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
• Lift and move materials up to 49 pounds each.
• Work in cramped and/or elevated locations and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching.
• Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day, and safely ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways.
• Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
• Take ownership of technical issues and collaborate with other teams to drive resolution.
• Improve effectiveness through process innovation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or A+ or CND (Certified Network Defender) or Network+ or Security+ certification.
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

• Hands-on experience with hardware platforms such as Dell or HP.
• Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications.
• Previous experience working in a Data Center environment, including racking & stacking gear and cable management.
• Associate's degree in IT-related field plus two years of progressively responsible experience.
