About the position

The Data Center Technician at Apple is responsible for the installation, servicing, and maintenance of IT infrastructure in a 24/7 operational environment. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced setting while ensuring high availability of services.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and support network connectivity, installation and removal of hardware assets, and troubleshoot hardware issues.
  • Support team operations by collaborating and contributing to service level deadlines.
  • Maintain a positive team environment by sharing information and best practices with colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders through verbal and written channels.
  • Drive innovation by seeking ways to improve operational processes and meet performance objectives.
  • Plan hardware installation and removal, participate in data center infrastructure projects, and manage risks that may impact services.
  • Perform diagnostics and apply firmware updates to resolve hardware/software issues.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in various environments.

Requirements

  • Experience in technical support, help desk, logistics, or technical training in computer engineering or a related IT field.
  • Ability to safely work at heights using ladders and lifts, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Ability to use hand-held tools such as electric drills and fiber testing kits safely.
  • Ability to work extended shifts in a data center environment with varying temperatures.
  • Willingness to participate in rotational on-call duties for after-hours support.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of 1 year experience supporting IT hardware infrastructure in a production data center environment.
  • Technical certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+.
  • Experience with established procedures for network connectivity tasks and hardware swaps.
  • Familiarity with computer operating systems and productivity applications.
