About the position

The Data Center Technician role at AWS Infrastructure Services involves supporting the operation and maintenance of AWS global data centers. This position is crucial for ensuring the availability and reliability of data center operations, requiring collaboration with various teams to address operational incidents and maintain service levels. Technicians will engage in hardware and network repairs, equipment installations, and documentation, while also participating in a primary responder rotation to ensure continuous service availability.

Responsibilities

• Perform server rack installations and hardware break-fix on various components.
• Troubleshoot network issues and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability.
• Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers and vendors.
• Perform on-call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
• Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on operational analysis.
• Help train and onboard new team members.

Requirements

• 1+ years of relevant experience in data center operations, IT support, or a similar technical field.
• 1+ years of troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve undefined technical problems.
• Willingness to participate in a primary responder rotation and support 24/7 data center operations.

Nice-to-haves

• An Associate's degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field.
• Experience working in a Data Center environment.
• Understanding of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting.
• Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
• Understanding of in-depth hardware knowledge (e.g., PCIe).
