The Data Center Technician is essential for the maintenance, management, and operation of a data center facility. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of the data center infrastructure, which includes servers, networking equipment, and cooling systems. The technician will perform routine maintenance and inspections of data center hardware, including servers, storage devices, and networking equipment. They will troubleshoot and diagnose hardware issues, coordinating with vendors for repairs or replacements as needed. Additionally, the technician will install, configure, and maintain server hardware and software, monitor server performance, and take proactive measures to optimize performance and prevent downtime. In this position, the technician will manage and configure network switches, routers, and firewalls, monitor network traffic, and address connectivity issues promptly. Implementing and enforcing security protocols to safeguard data center assets and prevent unauthorized access is also a key responsibility. The technician will monitor power distribution and backup systems (UPS) to ensure uninterrupted operation and maintain detailed records of equipment inventory, maintenance activities, and system configurations. Following disaster recovery plans to minimize data center downtime is another critical aspect of this role. The job requires the ability to work effectively in a 24/7 operational environment, and the technician must be prepared to lift up to 50 lbs and climb or work on ladders or lifts as necessary.
