About the position

Arthur Grand Technologies is currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Data Center Technician for one of our clients. This role is crucial for ensuring the proper installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic systems within data centers. The Data Center Technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include cabling and termination, as well as the installation of racks, patch panels, and fiber optic hardware. The technician will also be required to install grounding for racks, equipment, and cables as necessary to ensure safety and compliance with industry standards. In addition to installation tasks, the Fiber Technician will perform essential testing procedures. This includes conducting continuity tests on horizontal and riser cables, utilizing volt-ohmmeters, and troubleshooting issues such as opens, crosses, shorts, and transposed pairs on both horizontal and riser cables. The technician will also be responsible for using tone sets to identify and resolve connectivity issues. Furthermore, the Fiber Technician will install various types of connectors, including LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, and MPO/MTP connectors, for both multi-mode and single-mode fiber. This position requires a strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety in all work performed.

Responsibilities

  • Cabling & Termination
  • Mount and install racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware
  • Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required
  • Perform testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable
  • Use of volt-ohmmeter to troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable
  • Use a tone set for troubleshooting
  • Install LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA and MPO/MTP connectors for both multi-mode & single-mode fiber

Requirements

  • Experience with cabling and termination of fiber optic systems
  • Proficiency in using testing equipment such as volt-ohmmeters and tone sets
  • Knowledge of various fiber optic connectors and their installation
  • Ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues in fiber optic systems
