About the position

The Data Center Technician position involves working onsite in Sterling, VA, focusing on the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic systems. The role requires proficiency in various connector types and methods, as well as experience in data center environments.

Responsibilities

• Terminate all connector types and methods for SMF and MMF systems.
• Test and troubleshoot MMF and SMF systems using OTDR and PMLS.
• Install fiber optic systems in data center environments.
• Perform mechanical and fusion splicing as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards during OSP and confined space entry.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Proficiency in terminating all connector types and methods for SMF and MMF systems.
• Experience in testing and troubleshooting MMF and SMF systems (OTDR & PMLS).
• 3-5 years of experience in fiber optics (preferred).
• Industry certifications (Corning/FOA/BICSI) are preferred.
• Experience in data center installation is preferred.
• Mechanical and fusion splice experience is preferred.
• OSP / confined space entry experience is preferred.
