About the position

The Data Center Technician I role is a full-time position focused on diagnosing and resolving routine technical issues within a data center environment. The technician will work closely with both internal and external clients, ensuring efficient operations and high levels of customer satisfaction. This position requires a strong understanding of LAN and WAN technologies, as well as the ability to monitor and manage system performance and security within the Command Center.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and solve routine problems and incidents to enhance first-level resolution.
  • Promote efficiency and customer satisfaction while lowering the cost per contact rate.
  • Respond to large volumes of incidents and inquiries from clients and IT staff.
  • Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, communication, and server performance.
  • Perform corrective actions when issues are identified and manage systems performance and capacity.
  • Maintain security of the Command Center, including key/lock control and monitoring security cameras.
  • Collaborate with senior Data Center Technicians to create a knowledge base and maintain documentation.
  • Provide Smart Hands service to clients, including tracing and reseating cables, inspecting indicator lights, and performing emergency restores.

Requirements

  • Technical certificate or Associate's degree in Information Systems-Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Customer service and communication skills to develop good working relationships.
  • Basic understanding of networks, servers, and data center operations.
  • Ability to interpret system and event messages via monitoring tools and software applications.
  • Knowledge of Incident Management workflows and automation tools.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in incident management responsibilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with web-based applications including enterprise incident management tracking systems.
