About the position

The Data Center Technician I position at Segra is an entry-level role focused on providing technical support in the Raleigh, NC data center. This position requires regular availability for the 3rd shift and involves a variety of technical tasks, including server management, cabling, and customer service. The technician will work independently to identify and resolve issues while maintaining a strong customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform entry-level technical tasks including cabinet preparation, stock handling, racking servers, and cable pulling and termination.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the data center environment.
  • Work around HVAC and electrical equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist with basic network and server configurations as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to clients via phone, email, and ticketing systems.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher, or a minimum of two years working experience in a customer service/help desk environment.
  • IT-related certifications such as VMware vSphere Foundations, CompTIA A+, Server+, or Net+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft MCSA or MCSE, RedHat RHCSA or RHCE are a plus.
  • General knowledge of TCP/IP and technical knowledge of PC hardware, operating systems, networks, and communications protocols.
  • Previous cabling experience (Copper/Coax/Fiber) is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with VMware vSphere and NetApp Storage solutions.
  • Familiarity with Kaseya and Logic Monitor tools.
  • Ability to use MS Visio for documentation.
