About the position

CoreSite's Data Center Technician I will assist in the operational integrity, security, and regulatory compliance of the assigned data center. This role involves learning and gaining experience through assisting more experienced technicians in day-to-day operations, including security functions, general site response, triage, and customer interaction. The technician will ensure that data center problems are identified and repaired quickly, and that contractors deliver quality services while meeting internal customer demands.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the operational integrity and security of the data center.
  • Monitor and respond to mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and security systems.
  • Ensure data center problems are identified and repaired quickly.
  • Assist in security operations, first-responder duties, and customer service.
  • Learn and gain experience in data center mechanical, electrical, telecom, and security equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or greater
  • 1+ years of experience in customer service or security industry
  • Ability to write concise and accurate reports
  • Good troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff
  • Familiarity with CCTV and access control security systems
  • Ability to learn quickly and address issues in a Mission Critical 24x7 environment
  • Strong work ethic and accountability
  • Ability to operate hand and machine tools and electrical tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a mission critical facility is a plus
