About the position

The Data Center Technician I at Goldbelt, Inc. is responsible for providing operational support in a TIER III Data Center environment. This role involves monitoring and maintaining data center infrastructure, ensuring the availability and reliability of enterprise systems, and assisting with customer service and documentation. The technician will work in a 24x7x365 operation, requiring physical presence to perform essential tasks and support the Data Center Operations Center (DOC).

Responsibilities

  • Escort visitors, including 3rd party vendors, in secure areas and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Assist in the design, improvement, and implementation of ADC policies and procedures.
  • Perform Service Desk activities, including answering customer inquiries after hours.
  • Support customer relationship management for internal and external Data Center customers.
  • Monitor network resources and applications for outages and performance issues.
  • Conduct physical inspections and monitoring of data center infrastructure.
  • Open tickets for monitoring and outages, ensuring proper assignment for resolution.
  • Document current procedures and assist in developing new operational procedures.
  • Coordinate with customers for equipment placement, installation, and maintenance.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and resolve power and network connections for data center components.
  • Monitor and maintain data center infrastructure performance using support applications.
  • Assist with system and data backups/restores and media management.
  • Maintain inventory of data center components and manage equipment disposal processes.
  • Monitor environmental alarms and respond to issues related to cooling and power systems.
  • Create and update Standard Operations Procedure Manuals and operational documentation.
  • Manage badging for the ADC and associated workspaces in accordance with policies.

Requirements

  • Data center experience
  • Customer service skills
  • Writing skills
  • Knowledge of LAN and Windows environments
  • CompTIA A+ certification
  • Associate's degree in IT or related field
  • Entry-level position with under 1 year of experience

Nice-to-haves

  • IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) version 4 certification
  • Public trust and/or government security clearance
  • Experience with Alaska Native and/or American Indian communities
