About the position

The Data Center Technician II (DCT II) is a critical role responsible for providing physical and Level II technical support in a 24/7 operational environment. This position requires a solid understanding of facilities infrastructure, Windows operating systems, and PC troubleshooting. The DCT II must represent Flexential professionally during customer interactions and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely resolution and/or escalation of customer issues.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and conduct while performing data center duties.
  • Deliver proactive updates to customers and teammates as necessary.
  • Immediately address or escalate service impacting events when notified by Flexential monitoring tools.
  • Follow Flexential Support processes and procedures.
  • Execute tape handling procedures for internal and external customers.
  • Perform Customer Service Delivery Audits as requested.
  • Conduct physical device alert reviews throughout data centers.
  • Triage and escalate incidents as necessary.
  • Provide local access and escort for vendors and carriers.
  • Track carrier access for circuit installations.
  • Perform remote hands work for internal and external customers.
  • Support 24/7 operations with the ability to work any shift.
  • Perform data entry tasks for ongoing infrastructure changes and customer installations.
  • Assist and/or complete physical and logical installations of Flexential services.
  • Update all relevant and required documentation.
  • Maintain clean and organized customer cabinets, cables, and cages during installations.
  • Perform software/hardware installations and upgrades.
  • Execute routine maintenance procedures including customer reports and system updates.
  • Rack and stack customer or Flexential hardware as instructed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the Data Center and surrounding areas.
  • Perform environmental monitoring of customer and facility infrastructure.
  • Process all inbound and outbound shipping/receiving for customer and Flexential deliveries.
  • Operate Badge Access Security System and report facilities alarms immediately.
  • Assist Critical Infrastructure Manager as needed.
  • Complete End of Shift Reporting and follow Data Center Policies and Procedures.
  • Stay updated on new facilities-related information and training updates.
  • Assist with Monthly Generator Test Procedure and maintain inventory levels.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Customer Service, IT Support, or a trade position.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work any shift in a 24/7 environment.
  • Physical presence required at the Douglasville, GA Data Centers for a minimum of 30 hours a week.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a 24/7 production environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Software and Operating systems.
  • Fundamental knowledge of networking including routing, subnets, and communication protocols.
  • Technical aptitude with building management systems (UPS, generators, HVAC, PDUs).
  • Familiarity with ethernet cable color coding.
  • Understanding of ITIL Incident Response methodology or ITIL Foundations certification.
  • AA, BS, or actively pursuing an advanced degree in technology.
  • Certifications such as Network +, Security +, CCNA, Microsoft MCP, or MCSA.
