About the position

Fidelity Enterprise Infrastructure is currently seeking a Data Center Technician IV to join the Data Center and Colocation Operations team. This role is pivotal in coordinating technical implementations within the Fidelity test lab and providing support services across various platforms, including telephony, network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/SAN), server hardware, and storage devices. As a senior member of the Data Center Operations team, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in influencing and executing a range of data center activities. This includes determining the capacity needed for new data center installations, overseeing the completion of availability zone buildouts, and managing decommissioning activities related to the aforementioned platforms. The Data Center Technician IV will be responsible for cabling, labeling, and testing server and network connectivity (both fiber and copper) to devices, as well as diagnosing and resolving issues related to the supported platforms. Additional responsibilities encompass critical space management, project coordination, asset management, and strict adherence to change and incident management policies. This position operates on a Monday through Friday schedule from 8 AM to 5 PM and is 100% on-site, emphasizing the importance of hands-on involvement in the data center environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate technical implementations in the Fidelity test lab.
  • Support services across various platforms including telephony, network infrastructure, server hardware, and storage devices.
  • Create and influence data center activities including capacity planning for new installations.
  • Oversee availability zone buildouts and decommissioning activities.
  • Cable, label, and test server and network connectivity (fiber and copper).
  • Diagnose and correct issues related to supported platforms.
  • Manage critical space and project coordination.
  • Maintain asset management and inventory control.
  • Align with change and incident management policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or 4 Years of College education.
  • 6+ years of data center support experience.
  • Proficient experience with enterprise data center facilities infrastructure including Power, Cooling, Fire suppression, and Security-Access Controls.
  • Solid working knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols, WAN, LAN, SAN, and voice technologies.
  • Expertise in racking, stacking, cabling, and labeling of servers according to industry standards.
  • Proficiency in structured cabling concepts and practices.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to influence at all levels of the data center operations organization.
  • Ability to mentor and upskill junior team members.
  • Experience with telecommunications test equipment, specifically Fluke network testers and network analyzers.
  • Ability to create and maintain Visio elevations and CAD drawings.
