About the position

The Data Center Technician L2 at NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. is responsible for ensuring the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of the data center's electrical, mechanical, and fire life safety systems. This role involves maintaining processes that maximize customer uptime while minimizing operational costs, and requires a strong understanding of data center systems and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Develop creative approaches to minimize operational costs and improve efficiency.
  • Maintain and operate mechanical systems including chilled water systems and HVAC systems.
  • Manage electrical power distribution from utility/generator main switchgear through UPS systems to customer load.
  • Oversee fire life safety systems including wet sprinkler systems and associated detection devices.
  • Test performance of electromechanical assemblies and electronic voltmeters.
  • Read blueprints, schematics, and technical orders to determine methods and sequences of processes.
  • Inspect parts for surface defects and install electrical or electronic parts using hand tools.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain facilities systems, responding to abnormal conditions.
  • Analyze systems to ensure best practices for internal and external customers.
  • Provide feedback to engineering on existing standards and processes.
  • Work with contractors to ensure quality assurance for system expansions and upgrades.
  • Track and complete preventive and predictive maintenance programs with the lead technician.
  • Ensure maximum operational efficiency and recommend new technologies for improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate of Science in Technology degree or equivalent education/work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a mechanical/electrical position within critical facilities (preferably a data center, hospital, semiconductor, or power plant).
  • Current knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and compliance issues.
  • Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Ability to operate hand and machine tools and electrical tools such as a multi-meter.
