About the position

The Data Center Technician L2 at NTT DATA is responsible for ensuring the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of data center systems, including electrical, mechanical, and fire life safety systems. This role involves maintaining processes that maximize customer uptime while minimizing operational costs, and requires a strong understanding of various systems and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Develop creative approaches to minimize operational costs and improve efficiency.
  • Maintain and operate chilled water systems, HVAC systems, and fire life safety systems.
  • Test performance of electromechanical assemblies and electronic voltmeters.
  • Read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine processes.
  • Inspect parts for surface defects and install electrical or electronic components using hand tools.
  • Align, fit, or assemble component parts using hand or power tools.
  • Monitor and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems including Mechanical, Electrical, and Fire Life Safety.
  • Analyze systems to ensure best practices for internal and external customers.
  • Provide feedback to DCO Engineering on existing standards and processes.
  • Work with contractors to ensure quality assurance for system expansions and upgrades.
  • Track and complete preventive and predictive maintenance programs with the CF Ops Lead Technician.
  • Ensure data center operates at maximum efficiency and recommend new technologies for improvement.
  • Manage systems to avoid unplanned customer-impacting events.

Requirements

  • Associate of Science in Technology degree or equivalent education and/or work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a mechanical/electrical position within critical facilities (data center, hospital, semi-conductor, or power plant).
  • CPR/First Aid and NFPA70E Certification during employment.
  • Possession of an OSHA approved forklift certification or ability to obtain one after hire.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current knowledge in industrial safety best practices (lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA and state regulations).
  • Familiarity with data trending/tracking and analysis using PC-based integrated critical monitoring systems.
