About the position

CrowdStrike is seeking a skilled Data Center Engineer to join our team, focusing on the integration, configuration, and operation of test lab hardware. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth functioning of our data center operations, which are critical to our mission of stopping breaches. The Data Center Engineer will engage in hands-on work, collaborating closely with Engineering teams to troubleshoot both hardware and software issues within the test lab environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data center best practices and be well-versed in various operating systems, including Linux, Microsoft, and MacOS. This position is on-site in Wenatchee, WA, and we are looking for candidates who can commute to this location. In this role, you will participate in server and network deployments and upgrades within a production data center, manage test lab hardware, and work with the Engineering team to resolve hardware and software issues. You will conduct server configurations and layer 2 network configurations, utilizing command line tools to troubleshoot equipment at various stages. Additionally, you will be responsible for installing hardware, integrating it into the production infrastructure, and running fiber optic and copper cabling to support our growing infrastructure. Your expertise will be essential in remediating hardware issues using manufacturing documentation and engineering specifications, ensuring that our data center operates at peak efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Server and Network deployments and upgrades within a Production Data Center
  • Manage test lab hardware including laptops and desktops running Windows, Linux, and MacOS
  • Work with Engineering team to troubleshoot hardware and software issues
  • Conduct Server configuration & Layer 2 Network configuration
  • Troubleshoot equipment, using command line tools, at various stages to identify & remediate issues
  • Utilize appropriate tools to install, configure, test and troubleshoot infrastructure nodes
  • Install hardware and integrate into Production infrastructure
  • Run fiber optic and copper cabling to support growing infrastructure
  • Remediate hardware issues using manufacturing documentation and engineering specifications

Requirements

  • 4+ years experience supporting Production Data Centers
  • Industry certifications a plus (e.g. CCNA, CompTIA+, Linux, etc.)
  • Comfortable using a command line interface
  • Familiar with copper and optical cabling
  • Understand power cabling and PDUs (Power Distribution Units)
