About the position

As a Data Center Technician (DCT) Manager at Microsoft, you will lead a team of technicians in performing hardware deployments, diagnostics, and decommissions. This role involves supporting technician performance, monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and providing training and guidance to enhance team capabilities. You will play a crucial role in delivering core infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud services, while also promoting a culture of safety, inclusion, and professional development within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of technicians, providing guidance on hardware deployments and diagnostics.
  • Monitor and evaluate technician performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Coordinate training for technicians on installation, deployment, and maintenance of data center technologies.
  • Encourage a culture of safety and compliance with Environmental & Health Safety (EHS) standards.
  • Review and provide feedback on Data Center policies and procedures to improve service quality and efficiency.
  • Manage ticket assignments and ensure timely completion of tasks by technicians.
  • Participate in incident management and escalate issues as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
  • 3+ years' experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • 1+ year of experience directing, supervising, or managing others.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 4+ years' experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • 3+ years' experience in a production, mission-critical 24x7x365 data center environment.
  • Certifications such as ITIL Foundation, CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), and Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • 2+ years' experience leading a diverse technical workforce.
