About the position

The Data Center Technician role is a critical position within the operations team, responsible for ensuring the technical and operational support of the North Las Vegas Regional Management Center. This position focuses on maintaining system uptime, performing preventive maintenance, and resolving network issues in a complex communications environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure 99.99% system uptime with zero defects.
  • Perform system monitoring and routine preventive maintenance.
  • Track customer problems and resolve network issues.
  • Manage system administration and network monitoring.
  • Plan and coordinate the implementation of new products into the production environment.
  • Monitor system limitations to maximize capacity and efficiency.
  • Maintain equipment inventory and configuration management records.
  • Ensure compliance with Data Center Standards and ITIL standards.
  • Respond to escalation and emergency requests in a 24/7 environment.
  • Monitor power, HVAC, fire detection, and security systems.
  • Proactively identify issues and create tickets for resolution.

Requirements

  • AA degree, electronics school certification, or equivalent military training and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience as a technician in SATCOM/Terrestrial environment with LAN/WAN industry standards.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP and Ethernet configuration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industry certifications (Microsoft, Linux, VMware, Cisco, CompTIA, ITIL).
  • Working knowledge of Unix/Linux systems.
  • Basic electronics troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of satellite and terrestrial technology (DSL, WIFI, Cable).
  • Experience with Cisco, HNS, CATV/IPTV and other Telco and IP protocol core network and equipment.
