About the position

The Data Center Technician role at the Governor's Office of Information Technology (OIT) involves managing the foundational infrastructure of a data center, ensuring physical and IT security, and providing specialized support services to tenant agencies. The position requires a strong desire to learn and develop skills in operating critical environmental support equipment, contributing to the overall mission of improving services for Coloradans through innovation and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Operation and management of critical environmental support equipment including Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Power Distribution Units (PDU), Remote Power Panels (RPP), Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAH), In-Row Chillers (IRC), fire suppression systems, security systems, and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) systems.
• Enforce best practices for access, ensuring all personnel are properly cleared.
• Ensure physical security of the data center spaces and IT security of the equipment.
• Monitor data center's status utilizing DCIM tool to confirm power and cooling are delivered as expected.
• React according to procedures for any out-of-standards measurements.
• Ensure that the power, cooling, and other equipment installations have the associated documentation available and that they meet industry standards.

Requirements

• One (1) year of technical experience or an Associate's degree from an accredited institution in a related field such as Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Cybersecurity.
• Knowledge of IT terminology and a strong desire to learn new skills.
