About the position

The Data Center Technician position at Cognizant involves providing hands-on support for data center operations in New York City. This entry-level role focuses on maintaining and managing data center assets, assisting with troubleshooting, and ensuring effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. The technician will play a crucial role in supporting the infrastructure necessary for digital transformation and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands and feet support to servers, network, backup devices, etc.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of the data center assets.
• Receive and ship devices.
• Rack appliances, switches, routers, firewalls, servers, or other equipment.
• Maintain and request supplies when needed.
• Assist Network, Unix, Storage, and Security teams with troubleshooting and installs.
• Labeling and cabling of devices/wires and validating them.
• Move a client KVM to another server or system for client to perform remote troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Coordinate with vendors/OEM spares and parts vital for inventory.
