About the position

As a Data Center Technician / Research Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the work of Eric Hartford, a Mad AI scientist. This position requires a unique blend of technical skills and intellectual curiosity, as you will not only be responsible for hands-on technical tasks but also assist in various research activities. Your primary responsibilities will include assembling, disassembling, and upgrading PCs, as well as testing components and troubleshooting any issues that arise. You will also be tasked with upgrading BIOS and reinstalling Ubuntu from a USB drive, which requires a solid understanding of operating systems and file systems. In addition to technical skills, you will need to have experience in installing and configuring file systems and networks. Familiarity with running local AI models is essential, particularly with knowledge of llama-3 8b instruct. This role demands a relentless and patient approach to problem-solving, as you will encounter frustrating tasks that require perseverance. The position is full-time and requires on-premise work, so you must be located in the Charlotte/Rock Hill area and have your own transportation. Responsibilities
