About the position

The Data Center Technician Team Lead will oversee a team of up to ten employees in a data center environment, focusing on structured cabling and server rack deployments. This role requires strong leadership, administrative skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. The Team Lead will be responsible for training team members, ensuring safety, quality assurance, and maintaining client communication while managing schedules and task assignments.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of up to ten employees in a data center environment.
• Perform structured cabling and server rack deployments.
• Conduct technical training on the job for team members.
• Communicate effectively with clients and maintain strong relationships.
• Ensure team safety and compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Oversee quality assurance and quality control of completed work.
• Track work schedules and assign tasks to team members.
• Monitor performance of contract service providers and recommend changes as necessary.
• Support the delivery of data center services, including colocation and telecommunications services.
• Coordinate access and work within the facility with third-party contractors and vendors.
• Perform unscheduled checks on work to assess and document quality.
• Act as an operational contact for data center clients, vendors, and carriers.
• Complete personnel reviews and performance management documentation.

Requirements

• Ability to develop shift schedules and manage teams.
• Understanding of project controls and their impact on project completion.
• Assist in managing and executing the budget.
• Understand contractual requirements and translate them into executable plans for the team.
• Excellent understanding of customer service principles.
• Strong observational skills and problem-solving ability.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
