About the position

The Data Center Technician role involves preparing, staging, and performing startups and shutdowns of IT equipment in a data center environment. This position requires adherence to safety protocols and deployment standards while conducting diagnostics, troubleshooting, and hardware decommissioning. The technician will also communicate and escalate incidents as necessary, ensuring efficient operation within the data center.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, stage, set up, and perform startups and shutdowns of IT equipment according to specific instructions and protocols.
  • Conduct post-execution quality checks to verify proper setup of grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling.
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues with IT equipment.
  • Decommission hardware for changes and refreshes following standard procedures.
  • Communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Datacenter Technician Leads.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
  • 1+ year(s) experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Flexibility to work non-standard business hours, including weekends and/or holidays.

Nice-to-haves
