About the position

The Data Center Technician - Technical IT 2 role at TEKsystems involves preparing, staging, and performing startups and shutdowns of IT equipment in a data center environment. The technician will follow specific protocols to ensure proper setup and safety, conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting, and communicate incidents to the appropriate leads. This entry-level position is essential for maintaining the functionality and reliability of data center operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, stage, set up, and perform startups and shutdowns of racks, hard drives, and switches according to specific instructions and protocols.
• Perform post-execution quality checks to verify proper setup according to safety protocols and deployment standards.
• Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues with IT equipment.
• Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes, such as memory upgrades and OS rebuilds, following standard procedures.
• Communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Datacenter Technician Leads.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
• 1+ year(s) experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Flexibility to work non-standard business hours, including weekends and/or holidays.
