About the position

The Data Center Technician (DCT) role involves developing an understanding of standard processes and procedures for preparing, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, replacing, and decommissioning IT equipment under the guidance of more experienced colleagues. This position is crucial in delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for online services, contributing to the operational efficiency of a large global portfolio of data centers. The role emphasizes personal and professional development, offering training and growth opportunities, while also focusing on environmental sustainability and optimization in data center operations.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate an understanding of standard processes for preparing, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and decommissioning IT data center technology and equipment.
  • Review Process Change Notifications (PCN) and understand their impact on work execution.
  • Comply with Data Center business unit policies and procedures with guidance from experienced technicians.
  • Complete assigned tickets efficiently and in alignment with relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Develop and employ effective execution strategies for assigned tasks, including hardware setup and shutdown.
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify and replace faulty components in network, storage, or server equipment.
  • Communicate and escalate technical or safety-related incidents to management as necessary.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and complete required Environmental & Health Safety (EHS) training.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by sharing information and collaborating with other technicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with basic knowledge of computer hardware and components and 1+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to meet customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Experience with data center operations and procedures.
