About the position

The Data Center Technician at Iron Service Global Inc. is a full-time position based in Denver, CO, offering a competitive salary range of $50,000 to $60,000 per year. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the data center operations. The technician will be responsible for installing various types of hardware, including servers and wireless access points (WAPs), and will work closely with engineers to execute tasks effectively. The position requires a hands-on approach, as the technician will need to be comfortable working at heights, utilizing ladders, scissor lifts, and articulating boom lifts as necessary. In addition to hardware installation, the technician will be expected to perform copper testing, troubleshooting, and termination, as well as fiber cabling troubleshooting. The role demands a neat and organized approach to cabling management, including the creation of mass labels according to port maps. Basic computer skills are essential, and the technician must provide their own tools, including a laptop, hotspot, and personal protective equipment (PPE). The technician will also monitor and maintain servers and network equipment, providing IT support to both staff and customers. This includes responding to server and network issues, ensuring the protection of company data by preventing overheating of data center components, and running hardware diagnostics to replace failing parts promptly. Collaboration with software and network engineering teams is vital for enhancing cybersecurity and network efficiency. The technician will document processes, maintain event logs, and stay updated on advancements in data center infrastructure and technologies. Exceptional communication skills and a willingness to address network and server errors after hours are also required.

Responsibilities

  • Install different types of hardware, including servers and WAPs with cabling.
  • Take direction from engineers for assigned tasks.
  • Work comfortably at heights using ladders, scissor lifts, and articulating boom lifts.
  • Perform copper testing, troubleshooting, and termination, familiar with wiring schemes.
