About the position

Equiliem is seeking up to 40 Data Center Technicians at various experience levels to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona. This project is set to commence on March 18, 2024, with hiring continuing throughout the month. We are looking for both entry-level and experienced technicians who are eager to contribute to our data center operations. The role involves the installation and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure within a data center environment, ensuring that all work adheres to production, safety, and quality standards. Technicians will be responsible for delivering sustainable and repeatable solutions while continuously seeking improvements in processes. In this position, technicians will provide structured feedback on project progress to stakeholders and collaborate with various teams to overcome project obstacles. A strong emphasis will be placed on quality workmanship and maintaining cleanliness within the data center. Technicians will be expected to read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation, demonstrating a broad understanding of data center infrastructure technologies. The role requires a hands-on approach, with technicians expected to utilize basic telecom hand tools, understand customer service principles, and adhere to job safety requirements. Familiarity with wiring schemes, low voltage cable pulling, and field terminations is essential. Technicians will report to the Operations Manager and receive daily directions from various levels of technicians, including Technician II, Lead Technicians, Senior Technicians, and Advanced Senior Technicians. The ability to maintain orderly paperwork and manage service jobs is crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Installation and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment.
  • Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, always with an eye on improvement.
  • Provide structured feedback on project progress to stakeholders.
  • Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain Data Center cleanliness.
  • Follow all production, safety and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation/redline work.
  • Maintain orderly paperwork and run service jobs.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and use of basic telecom hand tools.
  • Understanding of customer service principles.
  • Clear understanding of job safety requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand floor plans.
  • Familiarity with wiring schemes and wiring testing.
  • Ability to pull all types of low voltage cable.
  • Capability in performing field terminations and labeling.
  • Skill to layout MDF and IDF closets and dress all types of cable.
  • Ability to install ladder racking and seismic bracing both above and under raised floor.
  • Basic understanding of both copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to dress and furcate fiber trunks for splicing.
  • Experience with fusion splicing including Ribbon/Single OSP/ISP.
  • Ability to install, connect, and decommission network equipment.
  • Experience operating DSX 5000 tester/OTDR Tester and programming testers.
  • Ability to download test results to Linkware/Linkware Live and save, verify, and submit to customers.
  • Ability to create mass labels and apply per Portmap.
  • Ability to differentiate live cables from decommissioned cables.
  • Experience conducting service swaps of live networking devices.
  • Understanding of the FIM database and operation of scanners.
