About the position

The Data Center Technician at JLL is responsible for the maintenance and support of the data center's critical facilities, ensuring optimal performance of the rack-and-stack environment. This role involves hands-on technical tasks, including hardware installations, cable management, and troubleshooting, while also supporting service management processes and maintaining client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Perform remote hands support including power cycles and physical equipment inspections.
• Conduct hardware installations and cable installations, including routing and terminating.
• Perform hardware cabling troubleshooting and testing of copper and fiber cables.
• Support Service Manager processes by creating, updating, and closing associated tickets.
• Participate in planning and executing Power Maintenance Events (PME).
• Handle tape backup media and prepare for offsite storage as needed.
• Prepare and coordinate incoming shipments, ensuring accuracy with packing lists.
• Track and maintain adequate sparing levels and perform physical audits.
• Collaborate with team members to meet and exceed client expectations.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a data center technician or in a similar role in a mission-critical environment.
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to complete tasks within expected timelines and work independently.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office suite, especially Word and Excel.
• Thorough understanding of cabling best practices and IT hardware skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with HP and Cisco hardware.
• Knowledge of LAN/WAN/Telephony concepts such as TCP/IP, switches, routers, and VLANs.
• General understanding of electrical theory related to hardware installations.
