The Data Center Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of data center equipment. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including the maintenance of essential data center hardware and the proactive monitoring of all production systems. Technicians will be expected to provide remote hands support when necessary, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally. A key aspect of this role is the creation and maintenance of a cohesive and accurate data center hardware map, which includes asset management for all ancillary hardware. This ensures that all equipment is accounted for and properly managed. In addition to hardware maintenance, the Data Center Technician will be responsible for first-level troubleshooting and support services for client servers and network devices. This includes correcting issues and routing or escalating situations as required. The technician will also maintain company databases with accurate and current information, process all hardware Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs), and work with the corporate ticketing system to track and resolve issues efficiently. Documentation maintenance is another critical responsibility, ensuring that all procedures and changes are accurately recorded. The role also involves assisting with the deployment of machines, which includes tasks such as unboxing and racking equipment. The Data Center Technician must be detail-oriented and proactive, as they will be the first line of support for any technical issues that arise within the data center environment. Overall, this position is vital for maintaining the integrity and performance of the data center operations, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
