About the position

The Data Center Technician role at TEKsystems involves working on-site in Seattle, focusing on maintaining and managing data center operations. The technician will be responsible for auditing, documenting, and troubleshooting structured cabling, as well as ensuring the proper functioning of fiber and copper connections. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can work collaboratively and is self-motivated to complete tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Audit and document structured cabling in data center environments.
  • Test and troubleshoot fiber and copper cable runs.
  • Utilize DCIM tools, preferably Nlyte, for managing data center operations.
  • Plan decommissions of equipment and cabling using extracts from Nlyte.
  • Ensure proper labeling of devices and cables and verify connections are operational.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience working in Data Center, MDF, and IDF environments.
  • Experience with structured cabling documentation and auditing.
  • Proficient in testing and troubleshooting fiber and copper connections.
  • Familiarity with DCIM tools, preferably Nlyte.
  • Comfortable using Excel and Outlook for documentation and communication.
