About the position

Kforce has a client in North Las Vegas, NV that is seeking a Data Center Technician. This position will be onsite, and the technician will be a vital part of a team responsible for maintaining one of the most complex communications networks. The primary goal is to ensure 99.99% system uptime with zero defects, which is critical for the operations of the company. The technician will engage in various tasks including system monitoring, routine preventive maintenance, and customer problem tracking, as well as resolving network issues that are integral to the company's Baseband, IF, and RF Communications and the related backend systems. In this role, the technician will be responsible for System Administration and Network Monitoring and Management. This includes overseeing new buildouts, making changes to existing networks, and maintaining IP and system infrastructure. The technician will also be tasked with identifying root causes of technical problems and developing both procedural and technical recommendations for improvement. Planning and coordinating the implementation of new products into the production environment will also be a key responsibility. The technician will monitor specific system limitations to maximize capacity and efficiency, perform equipment-level capacity planning, and conduct network performance activities. Maintaining equipment inventory and configuration management records, including software releases, patches, and hardware changes, is essential. Compliance with applicable Data Center Standards, Service Management Quality Program, and ITIL standards is also a critical aspect of the role. In a 24 x 7 x 365 environment, the technician will assume responsibility for escalation and emergency response requests. This may require occasional work during maintenance windows, outside of normal working hours. The technician will monitor power, HVAC, fire detection/suppression, and local security and monitoring systems. Proactively identifying issues, creating tickets to ensure that all details are captured accurately, following escalation procedures, and using the notification system to effectively communicate issues to customer service and upper management are also part of the job. Troubleshooting events in a short time frame is crucial to maintaining operational integrity.

Requirements

  • Experience in system administration and network management.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL standards and Data Center operations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Experience with network performance monitoring and capacity planning.
  • Familiarity with Baseband, IF, and RF Communications systems.

Nice-to-haves
