Our Infrastructure Technician position is a vital role within our infrastructure engineering team, responsible for the installation, service, maintenance, repair, and alteration of low voltage category cabling, communications cabling, and other various low voltage cabling systems. The ideal candidate will primarily focus on racking and stacking equipment in data centers, ensuring proper installation and physical connectivity while adhering to production, safety, and quality standards. In this role, you will be expected to deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, always with an eye on improvement. You will install, service, and maintain low voltage category cabling and communications cabling, pull cables, rack and stack equipment, and assist with cable management tasks within the infrastructure. You will also be responsible for cleaning fiber and copper connections, performing basic troubleshooting, and following Method of Procedure (MOP) and Change Method of Procedure (CMOP) guidelines. Operating work ticket systems and interfaces for infrastructure management, reading and validating port maps, and conducting power distribution and cable management tasks are also key responsibilities. Collaboration is essential in this role, as you will coordinate with other team members to ensure efficient project and work order completion. You will follow company procedures and safety regulations, providing necessary information to operations management, and complete documentation in written and electronic formats according to company standards. Additionally, you will maintain equipment and supplies inventory, respond to emergency situations during or after hours, and escalate complex technical issues to senior team members as needed. You will also conduct Service Swaps of live networking devices and step in for the Lead Field Technician on a short-term basis when required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, and maintain low voltage category cabling and communications cabling.
  • Pull cables, rack and stack equipment, and assist with cable management tasks within the infrastructure.
  • Clean fiber and copper connections and perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Follow Method of Procedure (MOP) and Change Method of Procedure (CMOP) guidelines.
  • Operate work ticket systems and interfaces for infrastructure management.
  • Read and validate port maps, and perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Conduct power distribution and cable management tasks within the infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with other team members to ensure efficient project and work order completion.
  • Follow company procedures and safety regulations, providing necessary information to operations management.
  • Complete necessary documentation in written and electronic formats according to company standards.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies inventory as required.
  • Respond to emergency situations during or after hours to resolve immediate client concerns and meet service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior team members as needed.
  • Conduct Service Swaps of live networking devices.
  • Attend meetings, workshops, training, and seminars to gather information required to perform job functions.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve performance targets established by leadership.
  • Suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or certification in a technology services/technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in installing, servicing, and maintaining low voltage cable infrastructure systems.
  • Proven ability to install, terminate, and test low voltage cables.
  • Familiarity with industry standards including BICSI, ANSI, EIA/TIA, and local and National Electric Code.
  • Industry and manufacturer-specific certifications preferred (e.g., BICSI TECH, Corning TS-LAN500).
  • Strong customer/client service orientation with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to safely drive company vehicles.

  • Experience with fiber cabling systems.
