About the position

The Data Center Technician at VDart, Inc. is responsible for the installation, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic systems within a data center environment. This role requires hands-on technical skills, including cabling, termination, and troubleshooting of fiber optic connections, as well as providing customer service and support. The technician will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure the efficient operation of data center services.

Responsibilities

• Mount and install racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware.
• Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required.
• Perform testing including continuity tests and troubleshooting using volt-ohmmeter.
• Install various types of fiber connectors and terminate jumper cords.
• Calculate end-to-end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time.
• Provide onsite support after business hours as part of an on-call schedule.
• Travel to various sites as needed for installations and maintenance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Proficient in terminating all connector types and methods for SMF and MMF systems.
• Experience with testing and troubleshooting MMF & SMF systems using OTDR & PMLS.
• 3-5 years of experience in Fiber preferred.
• Industry Certifications (Corning/FOA/BICSI) preferred.
• Data Center installation experience preferred.
• Mechanical and Fusion Splice experience preferred.
• Ability to use various trade tools effectively.

Nice-to-haves

• Help desk experience (1 year preferred).
• Windows experience (1 year preferred).
• OSP / Confined Space Entry experience (splicing) preferred.

Benefits

• Contract position with hourly pay between $21.00 - $23.00.
