About the position

The Data Center Technician position at a large data center in Prineville, OR, involves physical and technical tasks related to fiber and telecom installation. The role offers a long-term opportunity for candidates with or without prior cabling experience, as training is provided. Technicians will be responsible for various duties including cable pulling, dressing cables, and maintaining equipment, while working both indoors and outdoors throughout the year.

Responsibilities

• Pulling cable, pulling innerduct, dressing cables, labeling, and fiber cleaning to industry and customer standards.
• Carrying and loading materials to be used on the job.
• Installing fiber and telecom systems, including Fiber, Cat5, and Cat6.
• Washing and cleaning vehicles and equipment.
• Performing physical tasks such as climbing ladders and assembling server cabinets.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of prior IT-related experience, with data center or cabling experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong work ethic.

Nice-to-haves

• Cabling experience (coax, fiber, Cat5, Cat6, punch downs) is preferred but not required.
• Willingness to learn and train in cabling.
