About the position

Our enterprise-level client is seeking to add a Data Center Technician (DCT) to the team in Livermore, CA. This is a contract role with possible extensions, and the start date is as soon as possible. The position requires the technician to work onsite in Livermore, CA, and candidates must pass a drug and background check. The pay rate for this position ranges from $23 to $27 per hour, depending on experience. The Data Center Technician plays a key role in our Integration Center, guiding the flow of physical technology products through the warehouse and the integration center. In this role, the technician will be responsible for assembling, racking, stacking, configuring, and testing products to meet specific customer needs. DCTs will work with minimal direction, handling products and updating associated information systems for various business functions, including receiving, cycle counting, kitting, inventory management, picking, benching, un-benching, packing, shipping, and asset management. Additionally, they will be involved in pre-stage rack and stack activities. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for BICSI Installer 1 or Fiber Optic Associate certification. A minimum of one year of experience with rack fabrication is preferred. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States. The role requires the ability to read and understand rack elevation and cable matrix documentation, as well as a basic knowledge of IT infrastructure and network topology. General understanding of cable types, cable management, and cable termination is also preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail are essential for success in this position. The technician must be able to work independently and adapt to rapid changes in the work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Guide the flow of physical technology products through the warehouse and integration center.
  • Assemble, rack, stack, configure, and test products to meet specific customer needs.
  • Handle products and update associated information systems for receiving, cycle counting, kitting, inventory, picking, benching, un-benching, packing, shipping, and asset management.
  • Perform pre-stage rack and stack activities.
  • Work with vendors to troubleshoot and repair equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • BICSI Installer 1 or Fiber Optic Associate certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with rack fabrication preferred.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Able to read and understand rack elevation and cable matrix documentation.
  • Basic knowledge of IT infrastructure and network topology.
  • General understanding of cable types, cable management, and cable termination preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills; highly detail-oriented.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer system applications (e.g.: Windows, Microsoft Office, OSX, SAP).
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the job, including lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent climbing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledgeable or experience in Brady, Panduit, Brother, and Dymo printing software preferred.
  • Experience with ERP, WMS, or similar warehouse management systems.
