Service Point is seeking a motivated and experienced Data Center Technician to join our dynamic team. This is a critical role responsible for overseeing and coordinating various technology projects within the organization. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. The Data Center Technician will work closely with project managers, stakeholders, and team members to achieve strategic objectives and deliver high-quality results. As a Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of data center infrastructure. Your role will ensure that our data center runs smoothly, efficiently, and securely, supporting our clients' IT needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on data center hardware, including servers, storage devices, and network equipment.
  • Monitor and manage data center systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and decommissioning of data center equipment.
  • Conduct physical inspections of data center facilities, including cooling systems, power supplies, and cabling.
  • Respond to and resolve hardware and software issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of data center operations, including inventory, equipment status, and incident reports.
  • Follow best practices for data center security, including access control and equipment handling procedures.
  • Collaborate with other IT staff and vendors to support data center projects and upgrades.
  • Provide on-call support as needed to address urgent issues or outages.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience as a Data Center Technician or in a similar technical support role.
  • Strong knowledge of data center hardware, including servers, storage systems, and networking equipment.
  • Familiarity with data center operations and best practices for maintenance and security.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and problem resolution for hardware and software issues.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+) are a plus.
  • Mandatory RI Certifications are non-negotiable.
