About the position

The Data Center Technician role at AWS involves supporting the operation and reliability of AWS global infrastructure. This position is critical in ensuring that data centers operate at the highest levels of availability and reliability, meeting defined service levels. Technicians will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with various teams to resolve operational incidents and maintain data center infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Perform server rack installations and hardware break-fix on various components.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability.
  • Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers and vendors.
  • Participate in on-call duties and scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on operational analysis.
  • Help train and onboard new team members.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of relevant experience in data center operations, IT support, or a similar technical field.
  • 1+ years of troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve undefined technical problems.
  • Willingness to participate in a primary responder rotation and support 24/7 data center operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • An Associate's degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience working in a Data Center environment.
  • Understanding of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
  • Understanding of in-depth hardware knowledge (e.g., PCIe).
