About the position

The Data Center Technician role focuses on supporting SATCOM and terrestrial environments, requiring expertise in LAN/WAN and TCP/IP configurations. The technician will be responsible for installing and maintaining network equipment, ensuring operational efficiency in a 24/7 environment.

Responsibilities

• Climb ladders up to 20 feet
• Work with hands and arms above head for extended periods
• Carry equipment up to 50 pounds
• Install/deinstall cables/equipment repetitively
• Terminate various types of cabling (CAT6/6A, coaxial cable, fiber cable) with precision
• Handle escalation and emergency response requests in a 24 x 7 x 365 environment

Requirements

• AA degree, electronics school certification, or equivalent military training and experience
• 2+ years of experience in SATCOM/Terrestrial environment with LAN/WAN industry standards
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP and Ethernet configuration

Nice-to-haves

• Industry certifications (Microsoft, Linux, VMware, Cisco, CompTIA, ITIL)
• Knowledge of Unix/Linux systems
• Basic electronics troubleshooting skills
• Knowledge of satellite technology and terrestrial technology (DSL, WIFI, Cable)
• Experience with Cisco, HNS, CATV/IPTV and other Telco and IP protocol core network equipment
