About the position

The Nighttime Data Center Technician is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting customer equipment in a data center environment. This role involves hands-on work with computer hardware, including the installation and repair of server components and network gear, while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through effective problem-solving and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Rack and stack customer equipment, including server components and network gear.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with server components.
  • Work directly with customers to solve technical issues.
  • Maintain detailed written records of all work activities.
  • Install Copper and Fiber Ethernet cables.
  • Perform hardware break/fix on components such as CPUs, memory, motherboards, PSUs, disk controllers, and SFPs.
  • Replace components including DIMMs, hard drives, and power supplies.
  • Solve problems in standard situations using critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Assess outage risks and make informed decisions to mitigate them.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of computer hardware break/fix.
  • 1+ year of experience with rack and stack of server components and network gear.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
