About the position

The Data Center Technician position is a critical role within our client's organization, which is a multibillion-dollar company specializing in managed services, technology, and consulting. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about technology and have a strong background in data center operations. The technician will be responsible for maintaining the network environment and providing physical support for incidents and service requests. This includes working closely with remote Level 2 and Level 3 teams to resolve outages and fix issues, which may involve replacing cabling or hardware components. The technician will also be involved in the installation of hardware and patch cables to enable new services for customers, ensuring that all installations are completed efficiently and effectively. In addition to incident support, the Data Center Technician will participate in hardware rack and stack installations, which includes managing cables and installing necessary fiber and copper patch leads. The role requires a hands-on approach, as the technician will provide console access to remote teams for configuration and will be responsible for testing connectivity after installation and configuration. This position is a 6-month contract based in Hudson, MA, and requires candidates to be authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis now and in the future. The work environment is collaborative and productive, aimed at delivering individualized experiences to a diverse range of clients.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining network environment in support of physical touch (Smart Hands) support of Incident and/or Requests.
  • Providing Incident support by working with remote Level 2/3 teams to assist in resolving outages and fixing issues, including replacement of cabling or hardware components.
  • Providing Service Request Support by working with remote Network Support Teams to install hardware or patch cables to enable new services for customers.
  • Participating in Hardware Rack & Stack installation of both Network and Server equipment, cable management, and installation of required Fiber and Copper Patch leads.
  • Providing console access to Remote Team for configuration if required and testing connectivity after installation and configuration.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution, or three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.
  • 3+ years of combined experience in a Site Support Technician and/or Infrastructure Technician role (or similar experience) with data center experience required.
  • 3+ years of experience in racking, stacking, connecting, and providing basic configuration support of networking or server devices.
  • 3+ years of combined experience working in data centers, labs, or server room environments.
  • Experience in Structured Network Cabling Copper: Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, Connector Types RJ45; Fiber: Multimode, Single Mode, Connector Types - ST, SC, LC; WIFI H/W Wireless LAN Controllers; Wireless Access Points; Networking IP Addressing, Layer 2 VLAN etc.
  • Experienced in Ethernet Switching H/W Chassis, Supervisor, Line Cards, Power Supply.
