About the position

Vortalsoft Inc. is seeking a dedicated and self-motivated Customer Engineer (Data Technician) to join our team in San Jose, CA. This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from $65,000 to $70,000 per year. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing technical support in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. The role requires responding to customer calls promptly to troubleshoot, analyze, and diagnose server issues in a critical environment. The technician will be expected to provide problem resolution or escalate more complex issues to a Senior Support Engineer as necessary. In this role, you will analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot hardware and server issues with a strong emphasis on responsiveness and customer satisfaction. You will maintain an inventory of equipment and documentation of all activities related to your work. Creating service tickets, updating them, and closing them upon resolution will be part of your daily tasks. Effective communication is crucial, as you will need to inform clients before and after repair work windows via ticketing systems and email. The position requires a solid understanding of various server technologies, including HPE, DELL, Oracle (SUN), and Lenovo servers. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential for success in this role. Familiarity with ticket-tracking software, particularly ServiceNow, is preferred. This position is ideal for individuals with a background in data center operations and a passion for providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, diagnoses, and troubleshoots hardware/server issues with focus on responsiveness; provides issue resolution
  • Maintains inventory and documentation of activity
  • Creates own service tickets, updates, and closes
  • Communicates before and after repair work windows via ticket and email to client

Requirements

  • Previous experience working on HPE, DELL, Oracle (SUN), or Lenovo Servers
  • Strong problem solving and self-management skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Experience servicing hardware as specified or utilized in customer environment
  • Familiarity with ticket-tracking software (ServiceNow preferred)
