About the position

The Data Center Technician at US Signal is responsible for managing and maintaining the data center's infrastructure, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and security systems. This role combines facility management, project management, IT, and customer service, requiring a proactive approach to troubleshooting and maintenance. The technician will work closely with project teams and vendors to ensure the smooth operation of the data center while providing exceptional customer service and support.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic diagnostics and troubleshooting with guidance from experienced technicians.
  • Follow procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate management.
  • Work with project teams/vendors to test and validate installation and performance of systems.
  • Administer the physical security program, including tracking and creating proximity cards.
  • Maintain US Signal leased and owned site infrastructure and general upkeep.
  • Assist in the preventative maintenance program for HVAC, UPS, AC, DC, Plumbing, Fire, and Security.
  • Coordinate and schedule building maintenance and subcontractor activities.
  • Maintain efficient record keeping for security and general building files.
  • Suggest and implement departmental policies for efficiency.
  • Manage facility growth projects including property layout and security.
  • Draft and review facility documents and schematics.
  • Perform customer site tours and provide sales engineering assistance.
  • Coordinate and manage all shipping and receiving activities.
  • Provide after-hours support as needed.

Requirements

  • Technical training in telecommunications or experience with telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or facilities management is a plus.
  • Prior experience in the telecommunications industry is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, Project).
  • Ability to manage projects and multi-task to meet strict deadlines.
  • High level of analytical ability and effective communication skills.

  • Basic IT networking knowledge.
  • Experience or willingness to learn hands-on work with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and security equipment.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn electrical, fire, HVAC, and building codes.
