About the position

As a Data Center Technician (DCT) at Microsoft, you will be responsible for understanding and executing standard processes related to the preparation, installation, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of IT equipment. This role is crucial in supporting Microsoft's cloud services and offers opportunities for professional growth through training and development programs. Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of standard processes for preparing, installing, and troubleshooting IT datacenter technologies.
• Review Process Change Notifications (PCNs) and understand their impact on work execution.
• Comply with Data Center policies and escalate compliance issues to management.
• Complete assigned tickets efficiently and seek guidance on complex tasks.
• Prepare, stage, and perform basic startups and shutdowns for hardware according to instructions.
• Learn about post-execution verification of cabling and safety protocols.
• Perform basic diagnostics and troubleshooting with guidance from experienced technicians.
• Communicate and escalate technical or safety incidents to management.
• Directly perform decommissions and simple changes to infrastructure equipment.
• Maintain awareness of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for personal performance discussions.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to meet Microsoft security screening requirements, including background checks and citizenship verification.
• 1+ year(s) experience supporting IT equipment or related technology (preferred).
