About the position

The Data Center Technician role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) involves supporting the operation and maintenance of AWS data centers, ensuring high availability and reliability of services. Technicians will work collaboratively with a diverse team to monitor infrastructure, respond to incidents, and perform hardware and network repairs. The position requires participation in a primary responder rotation and may involve evening, weekend, and holiday work to maintain service levels.

Responsibilities

  • Perform server rack installations and hardware break-fix on various components.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability.
  • Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers and vendors.
  • Participate in on-call duties and scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on operational analysis.
  • Help train and onboard new team members.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of relevant experience in data center operations, IT support, or a similar technical field.
  • 1+ years of troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve undefined technical problems.
  • Willingness to participate in a primary responder rotation and support 24/7 data center operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • An Associate's degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience working in a Data Center environment.
  • Understanding of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
  • Understanding of in-depth hardware knowledge (e.g., PCIe).
