About the position

The Data Center Technician is responsible for supporting the enterprise-wide data center infrastructure, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability. This role involves maintaining an overview of key data centers, addressing production issues, deploying new equipment, decommissioning obsolete gear, and managing compute components. The technician will also participate in incident resolution and support continuous improvement initiatives within the IS Operations team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an operational overview of key data centers, MDF, and IDF infrastructure.
• Complete data center support requests and address production issues.
• Ensure quality and consistency in deploying new equipment and decommissioning obsolete gear.
• Move existing compute components as needed.
• Participate in the resolution of issues and incidents within and outside Data Center Operations.
• Install, maintain, and recommend improvements to structured cabling and equipment racking.
• Participate in critical incident resolution and be available for on-call rotation.
• Provide hardware verification, reporting, and audits through DCIM tools.
• Track and plan capacity management to support current and forecasted enterprise deployments.
• Support customer requests through established ticketing and workflow systems.

Requirements

• 3+ years experience operating Data Center facilities, including maintenance activities.
• 3+ years relevant infrastructure IT experience and participation in large infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of Data Center HVAC, air flow, mechanical and electrical systems including generators, UPS systems, PDU/ATS units, chillers, air handling units, and CRAC units.
• Expertise in IT infrastructure operations, including wide and local area networking, fiber and copper cabling, cable management, servers, blade chassis, storage, and backups.
