About the position

As a Data Center Technician (DCT), you will gain hands-on experience in the preparation, installation, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of IT data center technology and equipment. This role is essential in supporting the core infrastructure for various online services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Azure platform. You will work under the guidance of experienced colleagues, allowing you to develop a comprehensive understanding of data center operations and security protocols while contributing to a culture of inclusion and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of standard procedures for preparing, installing, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, replacing, and/or decommissioning IT data center technology and equipment.
  • Review Process Change Notifications (PCN) and understand their impact on work execution.
  • Complete assigned tickets efficiently and in alignment with relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Prepare, stage, set up, and perform basic startup and shutdown for hardware according to specific written instructions.
  • Learn about post-execution verification of grounding, tagging, labeling, and cabling to align with safety protocols and deployment standards.
  • Perform basic diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify technical issues and replace faulty components with minimal disruption.
  • Communicate and escalate data center technical or safety-related incidents to direct-line management.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and complete required Environmental & Health Safety (EHS) training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
  • Ability to meet customer and/or government security screening requirements, including a Cloud background check and citizenship verification.
