About the position

As a Data Center Technician, you will be a primary resolver for your support team, skilled in troubleshooting hardware-based problems within a data center environment. This role involves addressing a range of infrastructure issues, including hardware, fiber, and networking problems. You will be responsible for racking, stacking, and cabling, particularly with fiber optics, and preparing racks for relocation between data centers. With experience, you will serve as an escalation point for junior technicians and maintain documentation on supported technologies. Shift work is required, and the position may involve night shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, fiber, and networking issues in the data center.
  • Perform racking, stacking, and cabling tasks, specifically with fiber optics.
  • Prepare racks for movement between data centers.
  • Act as an escalation point for junior technicians.
  • Create and maintain documentation on supported technologies.
  • Execute small projects independently and assist in planning larger projects with management.

Requirements

  • Experience in data center operations and troubleshooting hardware issues.
  • Knowledge of cabling, specifically fiber optics.
  • Understanding of IT principles such as computer architecture and the OSI model.
  • Ability to work independently and take direction when necessary.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with preparing racks for relocation between data centers.
