About the position

The Data Center Technician will be responsible for monitoring and assisting in the daily operations of the data center. This role involves collaborating with team members on new builds, deploying new environments, and managing equipment within the data center. The technician will ensure a clean and organized workspace while handling tasks such as receiving, deploying, cabling, and documenting new equipment, as well as providing remote hands support as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist in the day-to-day operations of the data center.
  • Assist team members with new builds in remote sites.
  • Work with different departments to deploy new environments.
  • Receive, deploy, cable, and document new equipment in the data center.
  • Maintain a clean and organized data center.
  • Install and decommission enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and repair data center hardware and networking infrastructure.
  • Rack and stack data center equipment including servers and networking devices.
  • Monitor DC environments using monitoring tools.
  • Respond to tickets in a multi-owner environment.
  • Document activities and create/modify SOPs.
  • Manage the decommission life cycle of data center hardware.
  • Handle inventory processes, order replacement parts, and return failed parts as required.
  • Execute small projects independently and assist in larger local projects.

Requirements

  • 2 years of data center experience.
  • Knowledge of Dell PowerEdge Servers.
  • Knowledge of Dell iDRAC.
  • Knowledge of data center power types and standards.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong interest in learning new data center concepts.
  • Dependable and trustworthy.
  • Process-oriented.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • RACADM CLI knowledge.
  • Knowledge of network topography.
  • Dell Openmanage Enterprise experience.
